Business and Contract Disputes
The Firm’s commercial and business litigation practice encompasses business contract disputes of virtually every description, including construction, redhibition actions, sale and lease disputes, oil & gas, employment related contractual disputes, especially in the area of employee benefits and ERISA-based claims, technology and computer contract disputes and collection actions. With the assistance of its tax practitioners, litigators have handled numerous tax litigation matters before the Louisiana Tax Commission and in court. Real estate attorneys provide assistance to this group in the handling of real property disputes and right of way actions.
Trade Regulation
In recent years, this group has been particularly active in the area of trade regulation, successfully handling an array of significant litigation matters. Among these are a series of antitrust actions involving monopolization, predatory pricing, and bid rigging; the prosecution and defense of multiple actions implicating unfair competition and trade secret issues; and copyright and trademark infringement actions. Three of the firm’s members are licensed mediators and arbitrators and have resolved numerous litigation disputes in this capacity.
Tort and Insurance Defense
Tort and insurance defense constitutes a substantial percentage of this group’s daily practice. This work primarily involves the defense of self-insured clients in premises liability, intentional tort, product liability, business torts, asbestos, and employment-related claims, including statutory employment defenses and workers’ compensation. Injuries alleged in these matters have ranged from simple business losses to numerous wrongful death actions.
Communications Law
In addition, our attorneys have specialized in the litigation of various media and communications law cases such as the defense of defamation, libel, slander, and invasion-of-privacy actions.
