The firm has over 50 years of experience in representing clients in the heavily regulated electric, gas, pipeline, asbestos, telecommunications and transportation industries. Recent projects handled by the public utilities practice group include the acquisition of municipal electric systems, consolidation of electric and gas utilities, negotiation of regulated fuel and gas contracts, rate regulation and litigation, environmental class action litigation, antitrust litigation and personal injury defense litigation arising out of the public utility business. Attorneys in this group have recently handled several major environmental litigation matters involving CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and toxic tort claims.
The public utilities practice group also has extensive experience in rate and service regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Louisiana Public Service Commission, the New Orleans City Council, the Louisiana Commissioner of Conservation, and state and federal courts at all levels.
